The Van Gogh of PR

A quick summary of my professional industry experience

Table to Table: Intern

Table to Table is a nonprofit that operates in Northern New Jersey, helping to combat the massive food insecurity problem in the area. I worked directly under the Director of Marketing Communications, and thus took on a myriad of her responsibilities. I would lead media research and outreach, as well as designing and disseminating promotional materials for initiatives like "Bag A Lunch Help a Bunch", a fundraising campaign, and "Fiesta For Good", a ticketed event. I regularly met with the Board of Directors, and believe my efforts were essential to the success of the multiple campaigns I was placed in charge of marketing for.

The Swing Agency: Account Supervisor

The Swing Agency is a student-led PR agency ran by Hofstra University. The agency, despite being entirely made up of students, has genuine clients who expect the same standard of service as they would with any other agency. I was the account supervisor of our client Ascend Long Island, a nonprofit that works with diversely owned business by providing education, connections, and materials needed to succeed in the Long Island market. I created a content calendar and delegated to my team accordingly, I handled all of the client communication, and took the lead in making most of the social media and media outreach content. Together, we increased Ascend LI's social media impressions by over 4,400%.

The India Water Project: Intern/PR Chair

The India Water Project, originally The Water Project Inc. when I worked there, is a nonprofit that partners with local organizations in India to help improve their water access, as rural India has some of the worst access to clean, drinkable water in the world. I recognize that Intern/PR Chair is one hell of a job title. When I was working with the India Water Project, they were barely a few months old, and thus didn't have that much in the way of staff, and didn't have any funding to pay said staff even if they did. So even though officially I was only an intern, I was the only PR professional involved in the entire operation. I think I might have been the only person there who knew what SEO meant, something that I immediately improved, getting them from the third page of google to the top 4 results. If you can imagine it, I did it for the India Water Project, I managed and maintained their website, I created all the necessary materials for a press kit, I completely redid their social media accounts and designed everything posted on them, I took point on all media outreach and promotional campaigns, and so on and so forth. A thoroughly exhausting position, but I've always learned how to swim by being dropped in the deep end, and this being my first PR position ever fit perfectly.
